Yaw Tog & Bad Boy Timz – Azul
Today – 10th March – Ghanaian rapper Yaw Tog drops his new single, ‘Azul’ featuring Nigerian singer Bad Boy Timz. Switching things up, the Semzi produced track is engulfed by deep, Amapiano lead grooves, drum patterns, and a choppy bassline. ‘Azul’ is the perfect fit for Yawtog and Bad Boy Timz to display their versatility with both artists showcasing their many influences under one sonically unified roof.
Following the success of his debut EP ‘TIME’ – a project that took the music world by storm in 2021 Yaw Tog became synonymous with the Ghanaian Drill movement after receiving global recognition for his viral breakout hit, ‘Sore’. The song went on to break a number of records and was remixed by two heavyweights, Stormzy & Kwesi Arthur, which catapulted the track further into the hall of fame. 2021 also saw Yaw Tog release a number of standout singles; ’Daben’, ‘Africa’, and ‘Sei Mu’, alongside countless features. Bad Boy Timz on the other hand, broke out in 2020 with his hit ‘MJ’ which racked up over 5 million streams in its first month, and was later remixed twice with Mayorkun & Teni respectively. Also in 2020, his feature on Olamide’s ‘Loading’ off the Carpe Diem album helped
him shine even brighter as he reached top chart positions across various countries. Most recently, he’s dropped viral sensation ‘Move’ followed by yet another affirming collaboration with Afrobeats legend Olamide on ‘Skelele’.
At such a young age Yaw Tog is a pioneer within the drill scene, renowned for bringing rising talent with him along the way. He was recently named Apple Musics’ Africa Rising artist with previous rising artists including the likes of Tems, Omah Lay and Ayra Starr. Now 18-years-old, Yaw Tog left school, marking a new chapter for the rapper who is finally where he wants to be, making music full time. Still, so early on in his career, he has achieved some major accolades, yet he remains grounded, determined, humble, and ready to put the work in.
